Mechanics & Tablet
The mechanic job, the tablet, work orders, invoices, parts, servicing, nitrous and car lifts.
What it is
Mechanics run the shop: they install customers' orders, repair and service cars, fit tuning parts and nitrous, and manage the shop from the mechanic tablet.
How it works
The mechanic job is given by the shop boss (tablet) or staff. At GearHead it is mechanic, ranks 0–4; rank 4 (Boss)
is the manager.
- Get a tablet. Buy a Mechanic Tablet ($600) at the Servicing Supplies counter (third eye on the clerk).
Use the item or type
/tablet, pick the shop and Login. Press On Duty. - Connect the car. Stand within 4 m of it and press Connect Vehicle. The top bar shows the car.
- Install the order. Open Work Orders, open the order and install each part. Each part is a short skill check (press the key shown when the marker hits the zone); some need the matching item (for example an engine swap needs a V8 engine item).
- Invoice. An invoice is made from your work; send it from Invoices.
Parts. Counter parts are paid from the shop's money. Servicing Supplies sells servicing parts, repair kits and the tablet; Advanced Upgrades sells engines, turbo, drivetrains, gearbox, ceramic brakes, special tyres, the drift kit, stance kit and nitrous.
Servicing. Cars wear out as they drive (oil, spark plugs, air filter, tyres, brakes, clutch, suspension). When a part is low, the Servicing screen shows it; replace it with the matching item.
Nitrous. Fit it with the nitrous install kit, load bottles (up to 3), then hold Right Alt while driving (10 seconds a bottle).
Lifts. Staff drive onto a lift and press E (Use car lift). GearHead has 13.
Managers (ranks in the shop's Management ranks) also see Management: balance with deposit and withdraw, employees (hire someone within 5 m; they must accept), roles and shop settings.

Setup
- Make yourself the boss:

Counters
- Go to Servicing Supplies:
/tp 72.89 -1746.43 29.29. Third eye on the clerk: the counter opens (tablet $600, engine oil $45, repair kit $150 …). Advanced Upgrades is at 107.63, -1820.14, 29.41. Counter purchases need money in the shop's account.
Tablet
- Type
/tablet. Pick GearHead Customs, Login, On Duty. Stand next to the car, Connect Vehicle. - Work Orders: open your order and install each part (skill check). The car gets the parts.
- Invoices: the invoice is listed; send it. Management: balance, Deposit and Withdraw work.
- Servicing: shows part wear. Use the
engine_oilitem to replace the oil. - Install nitrous with
nitrous_install_kit, load thenitrous_bottle, hold Right Alt while driving: 10 seconds of boost.
Lifts and repair
- Drive onto the lift at 72.81, -1783.33, 29.29 and press E: the car goes up and down.
- Damage the car and use the
repair_kitnext to it: repaired./vfixalso repairs fully.
If it doesn't work: /tablet needs the item. Lifts, counters and the tablet need the shop's job. Management only
shows for management ranks.
