Jail

How officers send someone to jail, prison work, and release.

What it is

A jailed player is put in a cell under Bolingbroke Penitentiary until their time is up. The server counts the time, and it keeps counting if they log out and come back.

How it works

  1. An officer jails a player who stands within 10 metres: from an MDT incident (Jail), with /jail <id> <minutes> <reason>, or from /jailmenu → Jail closest person. Officers cannot jail themselves.
  2. A short mugshot scene plays. The prisoner gets prison clothes and is put in the cell. Everyone sees a chat line with the reason.
  3. Every minute the prisoner sees how many minutes are left. The longest sentence is 120 minutes.
  4. Prison work: doors move the prisoner to a work room. Take a package, pack it and deliver it to get $13–21 (once a minute). It does not make the time shorter.
  5. Release: when the time is up, the prisoner is moved outside the prison in their own clothes. An officer can free someone early with /unjail <id> or /jailmenu → Unjail person (this also lists offline prisoners).

Admin Quick Test

Setup

  1. Make yourself an officer: /setjob me police 0.
  2. You need a second player (a friend or a second client). The server does not let an officer jail themselves. Stand within 10 metres of them, for example at Mission Row: /tp 425.10 -979.50 30.70.

Jail

  1. Type /jail <their id> 2 Test. The screen fades and a mugshot scene plays. They get prison clothes and are put in the cell at 1799.83, 2489.14, -119.03. You see "... jailed for 2 minutes"; the chat shows the reason from Judge.
  2. The prisoner sees the minutes left every minute.

Prison work

  1. The prisoner uses the doors (E Open door) to reach the work room (992.52, -3097.84, -39.00). They take a package (E), pack it (about 72 seconds) and leave it at the drop point (1027.23, -3101.42, -39.00, E Leave package). They get $13–21 cash. Only once a minute; the sentence does not get shorter.

Release

  1. When the time is up (checked every 15 seconds), the prisoner is moved outside to 1845.60, 2585.80, 45.67 in their own clothes: "You are released".
  2. Jail them again for 10 minutes, then type /unjail <their id>: they are released at once.
  3. Type /jailmenu → Unjail person: the list shows everyone with jail time, also offline players.
  4. Reconnect test: jail them, let them leave and join again. About 25 seconds after joining they are back in the cell with the time that was left.

If it doesn't work: "The prisoner has to be next to you" means more than 10 metres. "This ID is not online" also shows when you try your own id. Sentences longer than 120 minutes are cut to 120.
